About ACW

Annapolis Classic Watercraft is a unique place for people who love boats.  It is a working boatshop specializing in the design, construction and renewal of classic power and sailboats.  But beyond that, it is also a school where recreational boating enthusiasts can come to acquire, hands-on, a wide variety of marine skills and knowledge, and utilizing Annapolis Classic Watercraft’s resources and facilities, pursue their own boatkeeping projects.

Bill and Jon Donahue

Annapolis Classic Watercraft was founded by Bill Donahue, a native Annapolitan and Chesapeake Bay boatman, and takes advantage of his decades of experience, both professional and amateur, in boatbuilding and restoration, training and adult education.  Bill built his first boat at the age of 10 and has built and restored a dozen other vessels, large and small, sail and power, over the past 40 years as an amateur.  In 2000 he chartered Annapolis Classic Watercraft LLC as a part-time business performing restorations for local clients. He has served as an instructor for the US Power Squadron and has developed and delivered a number of marine skills courses in for various community education programs.

Jonathan Donahue, Bill's son, ably assists at ACW when he is not working as a marine engineer across the river.
